Mason Coffee House sits comfortably on the A485 in Alltwalis, Carmarthen, offering a relaxed and cozy setting rooted in local character. Housed in a former inn, the space carries a subtle charm where the original features have been carefully preserved, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both familiar and pleasantly unpretentious.

This modest café attracts a mix of locals and visitors who value good coffee paired with personal, attentive service. It’s the kind of spot where regulars are greeted by name, and even four-legged friends are welcomed, reflecting the family-run nature of the place. The friendly, down-to-earth vibe makes it easy to linger, especially during sunny days when the garden out back comes alive with customers enjoying a peaceful outdoor break.

Visitors tend to come here for more than just a caffeine fix. The coffee serves as a well-crafted foundation for a casual catch-up, a moment of calm on a drive through Carmarthenshire, or a stop before exploring the local countryside. Alongside quality brews, there’s a thoughtfully curated selection of snacks and cakes, including waffles that seem to have found a loyal fan base. Breakfast classics like bacon rolls also draw repeat visits, speaking to a simple menu that’s executed with care rather than flash.

The café also doubles as a small gift shop, adding a touch of local personality to the space without overwhelming the breathability of the main seating area. This subtle shopping corner makes Mason Coffee House feel more like a community hub than just a quick coffee stop.

For those planning a visit, mornings and early afternoons during the week or weekends offer the best balance of activity and ease. The garden area is particularly appealing in warmer months, providing a peaceful retreat from busier roads. Whether you’re passing through or looking for a welcoming place to pause on a day out, Mason Coffee House offers an authentic slice of Alltwalis life anchored by warmth, quality coffee, and a straightforward, homey menu.

Charming coffee shop in a former inn. The owners have retained the character of the old building, and made a cosy and welcoming cafe. Great food and coffee - we can recommend the waffles.

Great little family run coffee house, very local to us. Always receive a friendly welcome to us and our dog. Serves really good coffee and a good selection of snacks and cakes. Also has an interesting gift shop area and good sized garden for the Summer months. I am very happy to recommend this little gem to anyone.

I’ve driven past this place for years and noticed it had changed from a pub to a coffee shop. I decided to stop and give it a go. Very nice place, only had a tea and a toasted teacake this time but will stop here again some time for something a bit more substantial.

Really good! We stopped by for a quick takeaway, great coffee (non-dairy milk available) and we also had a very delicious pistachio cake. Nice atmosphere and service, packaging was eco-friendly and the price was very good for the quality offered!

We had a beautiful mix of cream teas and ploughman’s lunches today followed by cake carousels for a family 70th Birthday. Service was swift and nothing too much trouble giving us a home from home experience with excellent coffee and soothing peppermint tea and relaxed atmosphere for informal get together on a wet Tuesday lunch time.
